Vision Morinda

Vision Morinda, a daughter of Ringo born on the 17th of June 2009 is the most extraordinary coloured filly we have ever seen. She is definitely the most outstanding filly we have bred with her origins (from an exceptional jumping line) since her mother Scarlett Fontanel is by the foundation stallion Diamant de Semilly, and out of Fantine du Defey, by Laudanum.

Her grand-mother Fantine du Defey , classified “Elite CSO” by the French Haras Nationaux, is the grand-daughter of the celebrated Inula, the Grand Prix mare of Jacques Bonnet and uterine sister of the supreme champion FLAMBEAU C, as are other international horses (Roi du Manoir, Jupiter AK and the famous Camera, by Rantzau who sired, amongst others, the stallion Muguet du Manoir).

Here are the details of this extraordinary maternal line which starts with Narcisse, the mother of Flambeau C and many other Grand Prix horses, passing through her daughter Inula (uterine sister of Flambeau, a Grand Prix competitor herself and mother of other international winners) then Tess du Defey, Fantine du Defey and Scarlett Fontanel. The page below is dedicated to her line, from Narcisse to Fantine du Defey by Laudanum, and her own daughter Scarlett Fontanel, the mother of Vision Morinda and Vidocq Morinda.

Vision Morinda

No-one can understand this out extraordinary coat that Vision has inherited (even though she doesn't have a single drop of Appaloosa in her veins). She is a "spotted" Tobiano and what is most astonishing is that the spots, which are abundant, are also to be found on her blaze and her four white stockings!.

One theory proposed by a breeder follows :

"Vision Morinda comes from the line of Flambeau C. On researching the photos of Flambeau you can see that he had some small chestnut spots on his blaze and his stockings.

These coat characteristics seem to be common in this line, because I had a mare whose papers are three quarters identical to those of Flambeau, and she is a chestnut marked with what I have called "peas". She is whole coated and has lots of chestnut spots on her blaze and stockings, but also some white spots on the chestnut! When I speak of "peas", I'm talking about well defined spots about the size of actual peas (the vegetable) and not about scattered white hairs.

Well, perhaps that might explain this!"

This theory is probably the right one. Big thanks to my fellow breeder!

Vision Morinda

The genetic reserve of nice surprises sometimes in store for the breeders of coloured horses. We were expecting anything, except overseeing the arrival of an “English springer spaniel”.

Also, Vision Morinda (aged 3 weeks in the photos) like her twin brother Vidocq Morinda from the same covering (which produced two embryonic transfers) has a wonderful character. She is gentle, very close to people and inclined to “stick like glue”. She’s not afraid of anything and is very easy, with nevertheless her fair share of blood. She is also quite a chatterbox : she never stops telling us about everything she has seen. A very lively filly and very bright.

Vision Morinda

Vision will remain at the stud as a brood mare, and we are already very curious to see whether she will pass on, at least to some of her offspring, her astonishing coat colour.

In April 2014, Vision Morinda, whom we have finally registered in the Zangersheide studbook under the name "Re Vision Morinda Z" had a well marked coloured colt with plenty of bone by the excellent Canturo. We have named him Cantor Morinda Z. This colt shows great class and we are hoping that he will be quite out of the ordinary.

Vision having proved to us that she is such a good mother, we have had her inseminated by Troubadour By Wisbeck and she is due to foal in May of 2015. We are in a big hurry to see this second offspring of our "English Springer Spaniel" as she has been nicknamed since her birth.

A video of Troubadour at 6 years old :

On the 25th April 2015, a superb filly was born : Welcome to Triskèle Morinda Z, as gentle as her mother!

One can also note that the twin brother of Vision Morinda, Vidocq Morinda, has had a good season as a five year old (approximately 1,300 euros of winnings by the end of 2014) and another of their uterine brothers, Graf Diamant Z, has done even better at the same age : he had won more than 2,500 euros by the end of the year.

At the start of 2015, Vidocq Morinda (still entire since he has been approved at the AES and has not been castrated) was sold to Belgium. We hope to see him again in CSI.

Here is the video of one of his first compétitions with his new owner : Vidocq 6 years old

In 2016, Vision stayed empty and was re-covered by a young four year old stallion whose papers seduced us, named Cambiaso Massuere. He is none other than a son of the famous LONDON (ridden by Gerco Schroder and named successively Eurocommerce London then Glock’s London). His mother is a daughter of l’Arc de Triomphe and Estrella Del Dia, who is none other than the mother of NERVOSO.

Vision will come to term in mid April 2017 and we’re in a great hurry to see her third foal, whom we’re hoping to be another Pie. In any case, he will have truly extraordinary origins.
