Foals born in 2015 : Flamboyant V, UCS Vantage et Triskèle, December 2015

Flamboyant, 3 months and 3 weeks, September 20, 2015 :

Flamboyant V Morinda, first time out, June 3, 2015 :

The magnificent Flamboyant V Morinda (the V is in honour of his father, Visage Van de Olmenhoeve) was born on the 26th of May 2015 at five in the morning. He is so very chic and spectacular that the name suggested itself immediately : a brilliant flashy colt, a wonderful achievement : Our beautiful homozygous brood mare Une Star Morinda, daughter of Utah van Erpekom, and our number one choice of stallion Visage Van de Olmenhoeve have worked well together!

Thus Flamboyant is the issue of a crossing between the only two coloured stallions that have, up to this moment, jumped in 1.60m competitions.

The cherry on the cake is that the adjective "flamboyant" is the same in English and also represents a very beautiful tree from Madagascar which can grow to ten metres in height.

Flamboyant had a straightforward birth, with lovely straight legs and right away discovered where his personal milk bar was, finding the teat with no problem at all. Une Star is an excellent mum with lots of milk for her foal who at only 48 hours old is already quite big, posing for photos. For choice, one can admire his right hand profile with a brown eye, or his left profile with the blue eye of his mother.

We have just learnt that, like his mother, Flamboyant is homozygote for the Tobiano gene (TO/TO), and also for the Black (E/E) and Agouti genes (A/A). So, exactly like his father Visage, he will produce coloured offspring that are nothing but Bay Pies : the difference is, of course, that Visage also produces whole coated offspring (bays) whilst Flamboyant will give us 100% Bay Pies.

His two full sisters are also homozygote, and his aunt is as well. It is notable that this aunt, Valentine de Grisy who is at this moment competing in Six Year Old A classes has practically the same papers (75%) since she is the issue of Visage and Royale Star, the mother of Une Star Morinda. She is therefore a uterine sister of Une Star Morinda, and Flamboyant resembles her to an incredible degree.

Here is Valentine de Grisy

Valentine de Grisy at 5 years old

Une Star Morinda first of all gave us two very beautiful fillies of which the elder (a three year old in 2015) looks very much like Valentine de Grisy and Flamboyant. After that she gave us a splendid male by Troubadour d'Aurel (known as "de Wisbecq") but much more in the classic lines, without the blue eye and without any white markings. We were waiting and hoping for a male since the beginning, by Visage of course, with a spectacularly out of the ordinary coat. And at last ! Here he is !!!

Une Star Morinda and Flamboyant V Morinda, 8 days

We wish him the same top level career as his father, Visage van de Olmenhoeve and his grand father, Utah van Erpekom !

To our knowledge, he is one of only two Visage's sons to be homozygous for the Tobiano gene. The second one is UCS Vantage
